“Clout chasing is not heroic.”

First thing I see when I look at my feed while taking my morning constitutional is reminders that all the people who said I was wrong 5 years ago are now repeating shit I’ve said because chirping what’s popular is the only way they try to get a reader base for their shit comic book.

I have no reall quanitfiable way of showing any of this because saying the truth got my old xitter account nuked. I don’t want to make youtube videos, so nobody is ever going to care.

People have told me I’m wrong to my face, then 5 years later make an hour-long “documentary” that just proves what I said while they were still worshiping e celebs while it was incredibly profitable to do so.

I started this rant on my Fediverse account, but I’m moving it here because I’m trying to use our site, more. It also prevents bad actors from said E celeb indie comic “movements” from mass reporting my account and getting everything I’ve said deleted, again. No matter how many times you try to kneecap me, I’ll never shut the fuck up.

I’m not going to list out a bunch of names, I’m not going to list any names, this time, because this isn’t because of one individual person, it’s about you, the comic book readers. You worship status over substance, you care more about someone’s pedigree than their body of work. You would rather buy the same slop from the same slop vendors, but when they leave DC or Marvel you declare OH BUT HE’S INDIE, NOW!

Yeah, using your connections from when you were working for a legacy comic book company and getting thousands from nerds on your name, alone is sure indie, dude! That’s so fucking indie! If you consider Image as an indie publisher, you’re not worth my time.

These same readers will only support indie creators who bend the knee to the new flavor of the week industry plant and will shun any creator who doesn’t say how their heckin’ favorite internet celebrity comic book guy is going to save the industry and is awesome and so very cool and not homosexual at all!

It’s always been a numbers and popularity game, but it doesn’t have to be.

“YY-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-OU’RE JUST JEALOUS OF (insert XYZ YouTuber/influencer/plant here). Yes, I’m totally jealous I didn’t make a gajillion dollars and then sat on it for half a decade and only made YouTube videos. I’m so Jealous I didn’t create the new capeslop that all the funkopop addicted mentally challenged nerds froth at the gash over.

If I get any kind of massive success it will be on my terms. I’m not going to use #ANTISJWCOMIC or whatever incredibly gay new thing you people come up with to sell George & Pin-Head, Under the Ring or whatever comics I come up with. I’m at point where I can create without any restrictions and I’m going to take full advantage of that. If that sounds like something you want to read, you can scroll up and look at the store. If what I’ve said has struck a nerve with you, you’re the exact audience I want to spite with my work.

Comic book collectors, nerds and all flavors of tourists have completely decimated the way the world looks at American Comic books, a medium we helped make relevant around the world. So many artists from Japan say they were inspired by our work, the same country that is currently mogging us in quality. In a way it’s like the railroad, what was once was a symbol of Americana and power is now being ruined by companies like Amtrak.

But a comic book nerd will look at Amtrak and say “NO, THIS IS ACTUALLY REALLY AWESOME, YOU’RE JUST JEALOUS OF ALL THE MONEY AMTRAK MAKES, NOBODY CARES ABOUT YOUR TINY RAILROAD THAT NOBODY USES, #AMTRAKCAMPAIGN!!!!” Then after an Amtrak crash takes out their entire family, they’ll say “WE WERE ALWAYS ANTI-AMTRAK!!!” and make YouTube videos “Exposing” them while just using readily available information from years ago.
