AtomiComics News Issue 2 Progress update!!!

Issue 2 Progress update!!!

Categories :

First off, I’ll be posting updates on the website moving forward. It is a lot less restrictive than Twitter. Also twitter is gay and I fucking hate it. Yeah, I can complain about comic book nerds, hood weebs and feminist, low T men crying about fanservice, but that’s on EVERY social media site. Twitter also has a dogshit UI, a restrictive way of posting and I have to watch what I say or a scorned dork who’s mad at me for stating facts about their favorite nerd celebrity will report me and my account will be sacked. It’s already happened to me, once. A certain comic book cuckhold’s fanbase went after me after I said a fetish book he was putting out looked creepy and gross. You’d think this would not be a problem with everyone’s favorite redditor now at the helm of Twitter, or “𝕏” as they want you to call it, but you still see people’s posts get buried in the goddamn algorithm or just banned out of nowhere. I thought humor was legal, again, Elon!? Not only that, but it’s very restrictive with how you post. Here I have all the freedom of wordpress to say what I need to say and show you all the pictures I want and ramble as much as I want. If you don’t like this, feel free to complain on the forum, because I’m going to be way to busy to read your bellyaching that’s limited to 280 characters!

Okay, enough bullshitting, the progress for Under the Ring #2 has been slow. I had the pencils halfway done when some very shitty shit started shitting all over my shit. We took on a few non-comic book related jobs to pay the bills and, to be honest with y’all, I did not manage my time well. I pulled several all nighters to get to this point and in the end it only hurt me, because I got myself sick. Lesson learned, instead of just forcing myself to work in 24 shifts non-stop doesn’t produce the results that come from maintaining a good sleep schedule. That one japanese comic book artist and my doctor were right, sleep is vital to get anything done in life.

This is why I refuse to take any money before a book is done. I get why people use kickstarter, Indiegogo and whatever 3rd thing people use. I’m not going to take preorders for a comic that isn’t done yet, because I have no idea what is gonna happen tomorrow. I might hit enter after writing this post and an escaped serial killer could break into my house and destroy my drawing desk. I could walk out on my balcony for a toke and get struck by lighting. I have dogshit luck, anything is possible. Then I’d have a bunch of people yelling at me because I told them the comic they bought will be late AND FOR GOOD REASON! Certain mainstream comic book slop creators have completely soured me on ever doing my own crowdfunding campaign. It shouldn’t take 5 years to make one single comic. Maybe I’ll do that for a bigger project, but I’m not going to accept money unless I can, at least, give people a PDF of a book. I’m aware not everyone who uses crowdfunding is a grifter, hell, some of the best comics I’ve ever read was done this way (Kyrie, Napalm Bros. Everything Iconic has put out, ect.), but as you can see, I’m still trying to figure out how to pump out comics on a regular basis and it’s pretty much just me doing this. Yeah, my wife Microspacecat does the cover coloring, Beckeroo does the lettering, but I still have to do the Pencils, inks, the black and white coloring thing I do, if I didn’t have M.G. Patch doing the marketing, building the website, distribution and helping print cut and staple the physical books, I’d be totally screwed.

I’m not complaining, the opposite in fact. Working this way gives me a lot of creative freedom I wouldn’t working with any other team. The problem is I need to learn how to draw faster (and better, yeah I got all the notes, I’m working on it!), the goal is to make these books monthly. I’m getting closer to that goal, but I need to get my ducks in a row.

The good news is, we have a lot of new stuff coming down the pipe. I’m working on a new comic series that revolves around a detective character I originally created for my college newspaper, but never actually got to print.

uh, are you making a NEW comic series? when Under the Ring issue 2 isn’t even finished yet???!?!! Why start another story NOW you fuckin’ dope?!

Well, dipshit, it’s not going to be a new serialized story like Under the Ring, it’s going to be a single issue, 36 page contained story. Like an episode to an hour long show (like most mystery/detective programs). There won’t be a cliffhanger of any kind and there will be longer spaces between books. It’s going to be more like Rocco Vargas or Lucky Luke or whatever. Each book will come out whenever I can think of a story for this guy. I’ll post more of this guy when I have his comic closer to being done, but there is a good chance you’ll see him in a kingswolf comic in the future!

Speaking of my college newspaper days, I’m bringing back George & Pin-Head! Oh, right, only 2 of you reading this will know what I’m talking about (Yes, Nik and Jak, I’m talking about you). As you can see in our archives, I used to do a comic called George & Pin-Head. After I dropped out of college for the first time, I Started posting them online and when I dropped out of college for a second time I did them as a webcomic that was not very good, becuase I was trying to appeal to everyone. I stressed out about getting shares to the point where I was making comics even I didn’t like. So I stopped. For Under the Ring issue 1 we needed some filler. We wanted to have a title and credits page with all our names on it, but the thing is with printing, you can’t just add one page like it’s a PDF. If you were to take out the staples of your comic book, you’d see that each sheet has 4 pages. So, adding a title page means you have 3 more pages to fill. My editor and I bounced ideas back and forth, until I said “fuck it, I’ll do some G&PH comics”. Doing those two in the back of the book were the first time in YEARS I had fun with G&PH comics. I have completely stopped caring what you people want. In the words of Harlan Ellison “damn the audience!”. We’ve been coming up with more and more of them, just making each other laugh, having fun and we’ve come up with enough comics to fill up a book, so look forward to a book of new George and Pin-Head comics! Will they be funny? Maybe! They made us laugh while stoned out of our minds, so it’s likely to be interesting at least.

Yes, it’s going slower than I want. Yes I said I was going to have issue 2 out last month. Yes, I ‘m a retard and I cannot manage my time, but I also haven’t taken any money and this whole experience has been a huge learning process for everyone involved. Issue 2 will be out soon, as will the 2 other comics I mentioned. As you can see, M.G. Patch has been busting his ass making this website a hub for cartoon freaks to yell at each other, draw and we’re working on even more ways you can have fun on Atomicomics.net. We want to bring back the website. When we were kids, you didn’t cycle through the same 3 apps on your phone to see the stuff you wanted, you went to several individual websites and newgrounds or something. Each one had their own personality and stuff to do. You could lose a whole afternoon just exploring each page and finding cool easter eggs. Look forward to that!

I’m not asking for forgivness or pity, I’m thankful for all of your patience while we get this together. You’re witnessing the birth of something great! Or you’ll be seeing all the evidence used against us if all those obsenity laws come into effect. Only way for you to find out is to stay tuned in!

See you guys in the next update. Thanks for reading all this! Look forward to a bigger update next time, we’re buidling some exciting things. See you there!
